Emma Raducanu Shows Where Hard Work And Dedication Can Take You.
An 18-year-old kid having to go through the qualifying rounds to actually make it into the US Open tournament - and then winning it. Sounds like something only a fiction writer could come up with. But they didn’t. These last few weeks have seen her become the first-ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam tennis championship.
Pretty impressive stuff. And she is only 18. If this doesn’t inspire young kids to work hard and focus and follow their dreams, then I don’t know what would. All the talk in the newspapers this week was about how much money she would make and how many more trophies she can win. But the story behind all of this is someone who was only sitting her A-Levels 3 months ago.
While many of her contemporaries live and breathe tennis – many leaving schools to join the tennis tours before they reach 16 – Emma Raducanu has stayed with her education. She scored some impressive results in her A-Levels too. She is already an ambassador for the Lawn Tennis Association, supporting their initiative aimed at getting more kids playing the game.
